Parenting Then: Big Bird
Now: Fine motor evaluation
Then: Crayons, paper. Have fun!
Then: Birth certificate showing your kid is 5
Now: camping out for dance recital tickets 3 months ahead of time, after spending $150.00 on costume.
Then: "Be there Saturday at two. Wear your tutu."
Now: personal baseball coaches with one on one drills once a week.
Then: Dad in the backyard with his old mitt.
Now: birthday party w/limo to pick kids up to take them to recording studio, where they'll record their own personal dvd followed by dinner at the Rainbow Room.
Then: pizza, cake, games in the backyard. the kitchen if it rains.
Now: Xbox, TiVo, Netflix HBO, IM, and cell phone
Then: a dime for the pay phone and "Pong" hooked up to the TV
Now: sweet 16 party with 200 guests, $1000 dress a band, and did you order a shrimp buffet and a chocolate fountain? (what will you do for her wedding?)
Then: took all the girls to see Sixteen Candles starring Molly Ringwald, followed by ice cream at Fridays.
Now: SAT tutoring and college application consultants
Then: An IBM Selectric typewriter and a bottle of Wite-Out
Now: Kids move home-with spouse and children-until they save enough money to buy a house.
Then: "bye kids!" Be sure to write!"
